Me: I think...yes...found it! Muppet Family Christmas! Score. *dubs to DVD* Mum: You know, TV used to be better. Even commercials used to be better. Me: Yeah, you know, I agree with you. Mum: That's why I've taken up hobbies. Like sewing, and Buddhism.
Hey, who am I to argue with the Middle Way....
Peace on earth! GIMME PRESENTS.

Wow, I'm actually on time to present....
Sam's three things about ROME!
1. Well. I guess that's it for Pullo/Eirene....which nobody didn't really see coming, did we. Drat.
2. I always have liked Brutus, but I especially like him in this, so it's a shame I know how this whole messy thing ends. I think the casting makes it obvious that Brutus is Caesar's son, which I'm also glad about; that seems....dramatically tidy, to me. And, historically speaking, entirely possible.
3. I know this is a bit slim pickings, but I had to watch the episode while the family made an ungodly racket doing various things, so I missed some stuff. Still, I have to say that I like the episode in which there's a bit more political action and character nuance and a bit less horizontal (or, knowing the Romans, vertical, diagonal, and foreshortened) lambada.
3a. I will say this for Rome -- whatever it does, as a show, it does unflinchingly. There will be consequences of every action -- nothing is brushed off. Nothing conveniently goes away or is quickly resolved.

I apologise for this in advance. It's not like I sit around trying to think these things up. If I don't get them out, I'd go mad, you see.
So, the term "Jossed" or "To joss" is synonymous with having one's fic/roleplay contradicted by new canon; I'm not sure why Joss Whedon got associated with sudden new details about canon which fuck up fanfic, because ER did it WAY SOONER, but the point, really, is --
Well, in the fanfic world you have to write fast, because he who hesitates is jossed.
Commentary post-hack: On the other hand, meta never hurt anyone. After all, not all those who wander are jossed.
