BRAG POST! :D
It's been a month since Nameless was published, so I have some sales figures for you:
Helpful readers have also put Nameless up on LibraryThing and GoodReads, and the PDF has been linked from Online Novels. It even has an Amazon page (with a marketing markup) that Lulu put up for me. I'm not sure why, but whatever. Moar gay on Amazon!
I've been selling signed copies of Nameless for $30 each, with the proceeds going to The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, working for LGBT rights around the world, or Children of Uganda, a secular support organisation for Ugandan AIDS orphans and other children in need. So far a little over $150 has been raised for these two causes, so I've made the first donations today. IGLHRC hasn't sent me an email confirmation yet, but I have a website screencap of the donation made on behalf of Christopher Dusk to Children of Uganda (the IGLHRC donation was made on behalf of "Christopher and Lucas").
A few weeks ago I asked people to Post Their Book -- to share photos of Nameless in local environs. I got a great response, and today I went back through to pick the photos back up (should have been doing this all along, curse my lack of attention span). There's a Nameless Brag Gallery up in my scrapbook. Just follow Crash (the partial inspiration for Nameless the dog) to see where Nameless has popped up!
If you posted me a photo and I missed it, or if there's no location listed and you'd like me to list one, please let me know so I can add it to the gallery!
What People Say About Nameless And OPCSY
I mentioned this to my mother - she's not a Cafe reader, but I showed her Other People Can Smell You and she was impressed with it - and she went, "Oh, good for him!" So, y'know, there's a random woman from Seattle who's proud of you. -- itcamefromjapan
I'd like to report that your book now has arrived in Sweden. It's been X-rayed and everything. It's rigt here beside me at my work desk, and how I'll refrain from spending the day reading I do not know. A real book, and it's so beautiful! -- Anon
I went to elementary-through-high school in a small town of 530 and Nameless made me so incredibly nostalgic for farmers bringing in their crops to the local business owners, Halloween parties at the church (or in my case, fire hall), and the rumour mill. -- Cymbal_Monkey
Nameless has all the qualities I always loved about Sam’s fanfiction: his light-handed, highly readable prose, charming dialog, a rich and vibrant mythos, and carefully-wrought characters who move towards each other by a subtle, painstaking course.
-- Hour Of Gold's review of Nameless
Sam: nobody has complained about my shoddy cover yet.
Mad_Martha: I have to tell you, my mother wants to read it just because of the cover.
It is pretty surreal to see a book and open it up and it's full of my words. -- Sam

ETA 12/16/09: Nameless received a review in the December issue of VOYA, a publication for teachers and youth librarians. Here's what they said:
Avoiding human contact, Lucas hides out in his cottage, crafting mask after mask in search of one to transform him into someone -- or something -- that will finally fit in the world. -- Rebecca (this isn't praise, necessarily, but I love the way she described Lucas.)
...outsider Lucas and his desperate yearning for connection, transformation, and love will resonate most with teens. -- Rebecca
I loved Nameless! Every moment of the day I just wanted to disappear into the world of Low Ferry. -- Alisa
Enchanting and thoughtful...an interesting read, and exceptionally heartwarming. -- Julia
