Sam's Three Things About Doctor Who: The Most Wonderful Man

1. Would have been totally funny if the opening credits read "JOHN SIMM" "JOHN SIMM" "AND JOHN SIMM". I can't believe I'm wasting a Thing on this when I could be talking about how incredibly fucking Star Wars that air battle was, or how the shakycam could have been cut slightly, or how I adore Wilf to the end of time for "You're the most wonderful man" and for that hug. But whatever, it would have been awesome and hilarious.

2. I had this idea before the episode started that the Mystery Woman might be Susan, and then when she unveiled her face during the showdown I knew it. She had to be; especially after Wilf's granddaughter got married and the Doctor looked at her when Wilf asked who the mystery woman was. Which means he damned her to the time-locked war forever. Jesus Christ, he does screw her over sometimes. (I have many thoughts on the treatment of Susan in original Who. This is not the place for them, but Jesus Christ.)

3. I loved the redemption of the Master. I admit I haven't seen the original Master episodes, but I love that his villainy and deceit were born of madness installed in him by the Time Lords, and that he got to get his own vengeance on them.

3a. LOL HIS LAST ACT OF HIS LIFE TO JACK WAS TO GET HIM LAID IN A BAR. THAT IS A SOLID INDEED, MATE.

I can't think of a single nonspoilery thing to say, once again. Argh. But I will give you the result of my bet with Jean about TEAM HILARITY versus TEAM TRAGEDY:

I will admit, that death was genuinely tragic. I mean, the fact that he spent HALF THE EPISODE DYING is super-hilarious, but the actual death, ok, that was sad.

(I LOLed a little during his death. IT WENT ON FOR TWENTY MINUTES. I HAD TO LOL.)

But, yes. Jean wins this one, I'm afraid. Stay tuned for whatever fic she chooses to make me write :D
